How would you describe your role at J. Cruz & Associates?
I am the founder and owner of J. Cruz & Associates, LLC.
How long have you worked at J. Cruz & Associates?
Since the inception of the law firm on June 1, 2013
To date, my biggest professional accomplishment is arguing a case before the Texas Supreme Court, which resulted in a landmark case that benefits all Texas public school districts. While preparation for the argument was very tough, the unanimous decision by the Court in favor of my client was worth it.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
I really like connecting with people. I enjoy speaking to my clients on a daily basis and trying to resolve some of their issues.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
This one is pretty easy… I religiously exercise, up to seven days a week.
What’s your dream vacation?
Although this career does not allow me to take too many vacations, I really enjoy traveling. My dream vacation would be somewhere I can learn, eat good food, relax a bit and have different experiences that take me away from the home/office environment.
Who has been the most influential person in your life, and why?
My mother has been the most influential person in my life. I really miss her and being able to talk to her endlessly about work and life. She always had the right thing to say and knew how to connect with people, which I learned from her.
Before working at J. Cruz & Associates, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
When I was in high school, I worked at Musicland at the mall. It was so much fun. I got to see and meet many friends, play music and hang out at the mall, which was all the rage back in the day. I do not know why I got paid for knowing about music, but the spare money came in handy.
